After soaring to 58 points the game before, the Heritage Christian Academy Lions were a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They suffered a tough 45-19 defeat at the hands of Faustina Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Heritage Christian Academy of the 53-19 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Heritage Christian Academy had strong showings from Sara Spangler, who scored ten points, and Addelynn Reid, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Faustina Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malia Flood, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Flood has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Denny, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Heritage Christian Academy now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Faustina Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Heritage Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Cristo Rey Fort Worth comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Faustina Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Lakewood Presbyterian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
