Basketball Recap: Lutheran South Academy Comes Up Short

Lutheran South Academy was the 45-34 winner over Fort Bend Christian Academy when they last played one another on January 7th, but their luck changed this time around. The Lutheran South Academy Pioneers were beaten by the Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles 65-35 on Friday. The Pioneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Elisabeth Hergenrader and Annaliese De La Pena certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hergenrader posted eight points and six rebounds, while De La Pena scored ten points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Hergenrader has posted since back in February of 2024.

Fort Bend Christian Academy was led to victory by Elizabeth Hamilton and Sydney Arocha. Hamilton almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, 13 boards, and nine blocks, while Arocha went 6 for 15 en route to 15 points and seven steals. Hamilton is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. Morgan Carter was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points.

Lutheran South Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Fort Bend Christian Academy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 15-10.

Lutheran South Academy will take on Second Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Second Baptist will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Lutheran South Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Fort Bend Christian Academy has already played their next matchup (against Logos Prep Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
