The Tazewell Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 81-34 loss at the hands of James Monroe. While losing is never fun, Tazewell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 384th in Virginia, while James Monroe is ranked 45th in West Virginia).
It was another big night for Mary Beth Meadows, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 11 assists, and nine steals for James Monroe. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Maggie Boroski, who scored 24 points.
Tazewell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for James Monroe, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5.
Tazewell will take on Virginia High at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for James Monroe, they will head out on the road to face off against Pocahontas County at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
