4A Mideastern recap Oct. 30, 2012
New Bern extended the longest winning streak in 4A Mideastern this week by beating Rose, 48-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
New Bern's Josh Taylor and Chandler Powell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Taylor has thrown for 2010 yards this season, while Powell, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 32 catches for 614 yards. Ashley's Quincy Rhodes leads the league in rushing yards with 1480.
Bobby Curlings' team's Jacquin Watkins needs only 87 yards against Pine Forest next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 104 carries Watkins has accumulated 913 yard this year.
The Bears led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on the Rampants. Taylor threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 41 yards in the win.
