The Sidney Team will take on the Norwich Purple Tornado at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Sidney's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Norwich has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Sidney came out on top against Walton on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Team took their game against the Warriors 8-3. The Team haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Riley Finch made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Austin Felzak looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, Elijah Wright was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Kaleb Monroe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Sidney hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walton struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Norwich hadn't done well against Johnson City recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Purple Tornado had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Purple Tornado have posted since April 8, 2024.
Graham Burton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Burton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zack Parker, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Francis, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Norwich's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-17. As for Sidney, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Sidney's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Team have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Norwich, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sidney continue to outrun the ball?
Sidney was able to grind out a solid victory over Norwich in their previous matchup back in April, winning 6-1. Do the Team have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Purple Tornado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
