After flying high against the Stover Bulldogs on Friday, the Iberia Rangers came back down to earth. Iberia was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 54-53 to Vienna. Iberia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vienna apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Iberia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexa Rowden, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Rowden scored a full 41.5% of Iberia's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Acelyn Bauer, who scored 16 points.
Even though they lost, Iberia were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Iberia's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Vienna, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Versailles the next time they take the court. Iberia will head out to face Versailles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Vienna will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
