The Morgantown Mohigans will square off against the University Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Morgantown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
While Morgantown's victory against John Marshall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mohigans had just enough and edged out the Monarchs 3-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Vincent Aloi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Morgantown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Nipper, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Weston Mazey was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
University had taken The Linsly School down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Hawks came up short against the Cadets, falling 14-8. Even though they lost, the Hawks' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Curtis Quarrick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Baret Shuba, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
University now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Morgantown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Morgantown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Morgantown was able to grind out a solid win over University in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. Will the Mohigans repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
