Eastwood waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Evergreen Vikings with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Kadyn Donnell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Paul Lautzenheiser looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Eastwood let Brock Messinger and Colton Woodward run wild. Messinger went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Woodward got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Woodward a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Norton, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Eastwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Eastwood pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Evergreen, they moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
