Softball Recap: Paulding Has No Trouble Against Continental

Paulding barely beat Continental the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Pirates on Saturday. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Tia Mendez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Darcy Taylor was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Samantha Leal was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Paulding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Continental only posted a batting average of .000.

Paulding now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Continental, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Paulding didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against Napoleon on the 12th. As for Continental, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Wayne Trace on the 12th.
