The Wellsboro Hornets won the last time they faced the Athens Wildcats, and things went their way on Thursday too. Wellsboro narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Athens 49-46.
Despite the loss, Athens still got an impressive performance from Connor Mosher, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mosher hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Nick Jacob, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Wellsboro's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Wellsboro will be playing at home against Towanda at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Towanda is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Athens, they will head out on the road to take on Wyalusing Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Wyalusing Valley: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Athens has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
