Jeremiah Haynes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Marquel Brooks made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Jercorion Wesley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Kingsbury, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Like Overton, Kingsbury also got a great game from a two-way player: Deyber Lovera Marin. He struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up eight earned runs off nine hits. Lovera Marin is becoming a predictor of Kingsbury's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Lovera Marin was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ar'Mez Samuel, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luther Mitchell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
As of now, neither Overton nor Kingsbury have any future games scheduled.
