The Riesel Indians can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Axtell by a score of 36-26. This was payback for Riesel, who suffered a 39-21 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Riesel found their leader in underclassman Matthew Hawkins, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Hawkins is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Riesel's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for Axtell, they dropped their record down to 14-14 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Riesel will take on the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mart has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Axtell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Marlin is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.
