There's no place like home for the Highland Hawks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Queen Creek 52-21 at home. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Queen Creek is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madilyn Gewirtz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Addison Riggs was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Highland's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Queen Creek, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Coincidentally, Highland and Queen Creek will both be playing Gilbert the next time they take the court. Queen Creek will head out to face Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Highland will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
