Lakota is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Gibsonburg Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lakota is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Margaretta. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on four straight dating back to last season.
Emma Jurovcik made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Jurovcik was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lexi Moon and Chevelle Rubel did most of the damage at the plate: Moon got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Rubel scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Rubel a new career-high. Hannah Stahl was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Lakota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Margaretta only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Gibsonburg posted their closest victory since May 1, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past Calvert 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Senecas: they've now won nine in a row.
Ava Amor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ansley Fleming was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Jividen, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Lakota might still be hurting after the 17-4 loss they got from Gibsonburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
