Franklin is 8-2 against Eastlake since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Franklin Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Eastlake Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Franklin will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Last Friday, Franklin didn't have too much trouble with Montwood on the road as they won 58-44. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Montwood is ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Balsiger led the charge by scoring 23 points. Caitlynn Clark was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Eastlake lost to Montwood at home by a decisive 55-41 margin on Tuesday. Eastlake has struggled against Montwood recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Franklin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Eastlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-17.
Everything went Franklin's way against Eastlake in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Franklin made off with a 52-26 victory. Will Franklin repeat their success, or does Eastlake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
