It was a good run, but the Ewing Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Sunday. They took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Bank Catholic. While losing is never fun, Ewing can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Red Bank Catholic is ranked fifth).
Red Bank Catholic found their leader in underclassman Addy Nyemchek, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Daniela Maletsky was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Ewing's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Red Bank Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ewing will take on Hightstown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Red Bank Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on Howell at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
