It was a good run, but the East Duplin Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwest Onslow. East Duplin has struggled against Southwest Onslow recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
East Duplin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Noble, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five assists, and Zakoya Farrior who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Yamorie Hardison was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds for Southwest Onslow. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hardison has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oriyanna Galloway, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
East Duplin's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-2. As for Southwest Onslow, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
East Duplin the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome James Kenan at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. James Kenan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while East Duplin is ranked 68th). As for Southwest Onslow, they will head out on the road to square off against Wallace-Rose Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
