Ahead of the 2021 high school football season, MaxPreps is breaking down the top senior prospects in the country state-by-state as rated by 247Sports. We continue the series with the New England states and New York.
Fourteen of the region’s Top 34 players come from six schools. The Loomis Chaffee School (Windsor, Conn.) leads the way with four selections, while Erasmus Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y.), The Williston Northhampton School (Easthampton, Mass.), St. Thomas More (Oakdale, Conn.), Avon Old Farms (Avon, Conn.) and Lawrence Academy (Groton, Mass.) each have two.
State-wise, Massachusetts has 12 selections, while Connecticut and New York own 11 each.
247SPORTS: Complete 2022 player rankingsOffense dominates the Top 34, with 27 players on that side of the ball listed, including 12 linemen (10 of which are tackles). Wide receivers (seven) and athletes (four) are also ample. The defensive selections are anchored by four linemen.
As of Aug. 19, 24 of the 34 have committed to colleges, headlined by Boston College with six. Buffalo has three. West Virginia, Penn State and Connecticut each have two.
