Even though the Pike Road Patriots scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, the Park Crossing Thunderbirds still came out on top. Park Crossing managed a 63-59 win over Pike Road. Given Park Crossing's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Pike Road is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Park Crossing was led to victory by Jayden Scott and Caden Anderson-teal. Scott scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Anderson-teal dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson-teal has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joey Johnson Jr, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Pike Road still got an impressive performance from Jordan Holmes, who scored 30 points along with three steals. Holmes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Robinson iii, who scored 13 points.
The victory (which was Park Crossing's third in a row) raised their record to 9-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Pike Road, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Coincidentally, Park Crossing and Pike Road will both be playing Russell County the next time they take the court. Pike Road will head out to face Russell County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Park Crossing will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
