The Penelope Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Bynum by a score of 31-29. Penelope was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bynum apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Bynum's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madi Westmoreland led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 blocks. Brooklyn Compean was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Penelope's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Bynum, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Coincidentally, Penelope and Bynum will both be playing Avalon the next time they take the court. Bynum will head out to face Avalon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Penelope will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
