Slocomb is 8-2 against Geneva County since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Red Tops will host the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Slocomb is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Slocomb took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Wicksburg. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Red Tops as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Wyatt Reeder made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Reeder was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Slocomb's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't).
Reeder wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will Hatton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Geneva County never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Poplar Springs. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Atomics recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Geneva County also got a great performance from Dylan Tate as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Tate a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, James Wright was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Ellis Thames was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Geneva County's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Slocomb, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Slocomb has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Geneva County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Slocomb's way against Geneva County in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as Slocomb made off with a 9-3 win. Do the Red Tops have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
