Ocean View is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Calvary Chapel is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Seahawks will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Ocean View 11.9, Calvary Chapel 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
Ocean View's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 28-0 win over Santa Ana Valley. That looming 28-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Seahawks yet this season.
Dereon Oliney had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ocean View proved: they limited Santa Ana Valley to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The Seahawks' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.58 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.43 on average over their last five games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Calvary Chapel and Estancia, and Calvary Chapel kept the tradition alive. Calvary Chapel slipped by Estancia 17-16 on Thursday.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 11 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Chaz White, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Calvary Chapel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jorge Brito and Waldo Castrejon.
Calvary Chapel's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Ocean View, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Ocean View has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Calvary Chapel, though, as they've been averaging only 91.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Ocean View was taken down by Calvary Chapel 40-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Seahawks, Matthew Peters (who rushed for 94 yards on only ten carries, and also threw for 67 yards and a pair of TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
