The Somerset Bulldogs will challenge the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Somerset had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Pearsall on Tuesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Nick Flores made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Somerset's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Somerset got a massive performance out of Josiah Gonzales, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Gonzales posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Blake Menchaca was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.
Somerset was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Floresville posted their closest victory since March 11th on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Devine 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers/Jaguars in their matchups with the Warhorses: they've now won six in a row.
Jaden Moreno was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Landen Mutz tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Beyer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Cardenas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Somerset now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Floresville, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
