The Middleburgh Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middleburgh is hoping to put an end to a 16-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Middleburgh suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Duanesburg on the road and fell 82-18. Middleburgh has not had much luck with Duanesburg recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville ended up a good deal behind Northville on Wednesday and lost 47-32. While losing is never fun, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Northville is ranked 144th).
Despite their loss, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taylor Hayes, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six steals, was perhaps the best of all. Hayes hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Trumble, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Middleburgh's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Middleburgh took a serious blow against Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 52-20. Can Middleburgh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
