Last Thursday, Florence came up short against La Junta and fell 35-27. Florence has struggled against La Junta recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Florence had strong showings from Kassidee West, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds, and Kaydence Martinez, who scored eight points along with six steals. West is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's game on Monday was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down The Vanguard School 45-28.
Florence dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Florence took a serious blow against St. Mary's when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 97-31. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Florence was down 55-12.
