The Lake Worth Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 58-17 loss at the hands of Cardinal Newman. Lake Worth was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.
Cardinal Newman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Katie Kent out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noelle Coyne, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Lake Worth has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Cardinal Newman, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-11.
Lake Worth will face off against the Falcons at TBD on Monday. Forest Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Trojans in Florida (the Falcons are ranked 236th, while the Trojans are ranked 558th). As for Cardinal Newman, they will take on the Rams at TBD on Monday. John Carroll Catholic is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
