Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail five more threes than your opponent, a fact the North Cobb Christian Eagles proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Therrell by a score of 66-53. Given North Cobb Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Panthers are ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gabe Bolden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grant Robich, who scored six points along with seven assists and four steals.
Therrell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Taylor, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted 22 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Torey Baisden, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
North Cobb Christian's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Therrell, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Cobb Christian will square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Therrell, they will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
