Melbourne Central Catholic opened the new year with a less-than-successful 34-27 defeat to Cocoa Beach. Melbourne Central Catholic has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Defeat or not, Melbourne Central Catholic got some senior leadership from Jailyn Como who scored eight points and Ari Teeter who scored seven points along with four steals. Teeter scored a full 25.9% of Melbourne Central Catholic's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keke Harris, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Melbourne Central Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Cocoa Beach, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melbourne Central Catholic will take on Pineapple Cove Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pineapple Cove Classical Academy is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Cocoa Beach will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Melbourne at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
