Baseball Recap: Gulf Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Gulf's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gibbs Gladiators a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Buccaneers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Reid Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Wilcoxson, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Gulf was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gibbs only posted a batting average of .143.

Gulf has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Gibbs, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Gulf has already played their next match, a 14-6 defeat against Hudson on the 15th. Gibbs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
