Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Timberline, who was ranked second at the time (Centennial was ranked 23rd). The Patriots came up short against the Wolves on Monday, falling 17-3.
Avery Simpson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain came up short against Mountain View on Monday and fell 9-4. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Danica Quinn put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Quinn wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Sorensen, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Centennial's record now sits at 13-13. As for Rocky Mountain, their record is now 14-12.
Rocky Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Centennial has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Rocky Mountain, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Centennial's sizable advantage in that area, the Grizzlies will need to find a way to close that gap.
Centennial came up short against Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting back in April, falling 12-7. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
