New Canaan is 2-8 against Danbury since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Hatters at 12:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If New Canaan beats Danbury with seven runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Rams came out on top against New Milford by a score of 7-4 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Meanwhile, Danbury strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Pomperaug with a sharp 17-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hatters, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jacqueline Marks made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Marks was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sophie O'Connell was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Analia Duran, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Danbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Danbury's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Canaan, their record is now 2-0.
New Canaan was able to grind out a solid win over Danbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hatters turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
