The Meek Tigers will head out to square off against the Falkville Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Meek's victory against Belgreen wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Meek sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Belgreen last Friday.
Dawson Beasley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five games. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Meek got a big performance out of Ethan Miles, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Miles a new career-high in RBI (three). Evan McCay was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Falkville can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against Susan Moore as Falkville made off with a 17-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Meek, Falkville also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Davis. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Davis has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Falkville is undefeated when Davis posts two or more runs, but 1-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Denver Comstock was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bryant Owens, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meek's record now sits at 6-10. As for Falkville, their record now sits at 4-9.
