The Central Valley Academy Thunder will square off against the Chittenango Bears at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Central Valley Academy will be strutting in after a win while Chittenango will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Central Valley Academy got the win against Rome Free Academy by a conclusive 3-0. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Black Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 27-25.
Meanwhile, Chittenango came up short against Proctor on Thursday and fell 3-1. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-21 in the first set.
Chittenango started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.
Central Valley Academy will have to keep a close watch on Donovan Schmidt and Gavin Karwoski, a pair of players who had a big impact on Chittenango's prior game. Schmidt had seven digs and five assists, while Karwoski had 15 digs and six kills. Karwoski is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least five every time he's taken the court this season.
Central Valley Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chittenango, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Central Valley Academy beat Chittenango 3-1 in their previous meeting back in January. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
