Gonzales is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Greenfield is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Gonzales Spartans will take on the Greenfield Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Saturday, Gonzales was the victim of a tough 40-14 loss at the hands of Stevenson. Gonzales was down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
The losing side was boosted by Ely Cisneros, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Greenfield can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They blew past Pajaro Valley 38-7 on the road.
Greenfield can attribute much of their success to Alexander Martinez, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Nathan Cox got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Stevenson's win bumped their season record to 5-3 while Gonzales' defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
Gonzales was dealt a bruising 48-14 loss at the hands of Greenfield when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Gonzales, Alonso Barcenas (who rushed for 306 yards while picking up 15.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
