If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Upperman. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Cumberland County at 7:00 PM. Upperman are cruising in on a five-game winning streak while Cumberland County are stumbling in off of five consecutive losses.
Upperman put the finishing touches on their 4th blowout victory of the season last Friday. They put a hurting on Cannon County to the tune of 49-0. The Upperman offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the match anyway.
Meanwhile, Cumberland County received a tough blow as they fell 0-15 to Macon County.
Upperman's victory lifted them to 5-0 while Cumberland County's defeat dropped them down to 0-5. In their win, Upperman relied heavily on senior Blake Metzgar, who rushed for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cumberland County will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
