Whittell can now show off seven landslide victories after its game two weeks ago. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Mineral County two weeks ago, finishing up at 104 - 58. One major factor in the win was the play of junior true, who earned five touchdowns and 264 yards rushing the ball. Womack has been a consistent playmaker for Whittell as this was the 7th good game in a row from him. Senior Corey Huber banked an additional four TDs for the team.
As for Smith Valley, it had just enough last game, edging out Excel Christian 28 - 26. Smith Valley had two big standouts, as freshman Marco Covian ran for 159 yards and also punched in one touchdown, while senior Yoni Covarrubias earned three touchdowns and 90 yards rushing the ball. Covarrubias has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past seven consecutive games.
The last time they met, Whittell really took it to Smith Valley, winning 66 - 0. Whittell was able to move the ball a lot more (504 yards compared to 170 yards), a gap Smith Valley will be looking to close this time around. Will Whittell come out on top again? We'll soon find out.
