The Prairie Central Hawks were the 72-66 winner over the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Prairie Central lost to Bloomington Central Catholic on the road by a decisive 75-59 margin on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Prairie Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Curl. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Curl is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Goad, who scored 13 points.
Prairie Central has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 13-16.
Prairie Central is on the road again on Friday and plays Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Prairie Central is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eureka in Illinois (Prairie Central is ranked 197th, while Eureka is ranked 405th). As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they will face off against Casey-Westfield at TBD on Saturday.
