Basketball Recap: Aldine Beats Spring for Their Third Straight Victory

Spring came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Aldine, but Jameson Kegler wouldn't allow it. The Aldine Mustangs walked away with a 78-67 win over the Spring Lions on Friday thanks in part to Kegler, who went 8 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Williams Jr., who posted nine points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Spring's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darrell Payton, who had 18 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jaylan Tran, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

The victory (which was Aldine's third in a row) raised their record to 16-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Spring, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.

Aldine will take on Dekaney at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Aldine's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Spring, they will challenge Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
