If the Mt. Pleasant Tigers were riding high off their 78-45 takedown of the Lewis County Panthers two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mt. Pleasant fell 57-44 to Loretto on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant has not had much luck with Loretto recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Mt. Pleasant's loss came despite strong showings from Ryan Benderman and Hayden Holt. Benderman scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Holt scored 11 points along with three steals. Benderman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Mt. Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Loretto, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Mt. Pleasant won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Zion Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Zion Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Mt. Pleasant likes a good challenge. As for Loretto, they will head out on the road to take on Summertown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
