Oberlin is 10-0 against Black River since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Oberlin The Phoenix will head out on the road to challenge the Black River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Oberlin is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
On Saturday, Oberlin ended up a good deal behind Port Clinton and lost 53-35.
The losing side was boosted by Julian Anderson, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Black River's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clear Fork.
Despite the loss, Black River had strong showings from John Kray, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Ridge Martin, who scored 18 points. Kray is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played.
Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Black River, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Oberlin took their victory against Black River when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 71-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oberlin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
