Baker won the last time they faced Pleasant Home and things went their way on Monday too. The Baker Gators' pitchers stepped up to hand the Pleasant Home Eagles a 6-0 shutout. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Wyatt Straight was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other pitching news, Cole Hardin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, Maddox Smith was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Stanley, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Baker hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Home struck out ten times.
The win made it two in a row for Baker and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Home, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
Baker will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pleasant Home: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
