Catholic Central and the Knights are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Catholic Central Crusaders' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Lansingburgh Knights at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. One thing working in Catholic Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Last Friday, Catholic Central earned a 62-52 win over the Indians. Given Catholic Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Indians are ranked 434th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Catholic Central can attribute much of their success to Xavjon Arroyo, who scored 20 points along with four steals, and Sei'Mir Roberson, who scored 26 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arroyo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Qwameik Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lansingburgh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 59-54 to the Cadets. It was the first time this season that Lansingburgh let down their fans at home.
Catholic Central pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Lansingburgh, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5.
Catholic Central strolled past the Knights in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 70-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catholic Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
