The Permian Panthers will take on the Lake Ridge Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Permian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Lake Ridge likes a good challenge.
Permian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Eastlake 59-7. The Panthers have beaten the Falcons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.

Permian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kayden Vickers, who threw for 383 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and Gavin Black, who rushed for 86 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. The dominant performance also gave Vickers a new career-high in passer rating (157.5).
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Permian's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Coffie Powell, Braden Woody, and Luis Zapiain, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Lake Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Trinity on Friday, taking the game 47-38.
Permian better keep an eye on DeShawn Edwards. He was instrumental in Lake Ridge's win, rushing for 165 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Edwards is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Lake Ridge's leading receiver Jayden Evans was Edwards' top target yet again, picking up 145 receiving yards and two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Permian's record is now 10-1. As for Lake Ridge, their record now sits at 9-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Permian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lake Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 259.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
