The South Pointe Griffins pushed their score all the way to 85 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 93-85 to Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way. South Pointe found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 14 to 4 on offense.
Several Griffins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Prince Sohn, who scored 31 points along with 3 steals. Sohn scored a full 36.5% of South Pointe's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jamontae Fullerlove, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from TJ Clark, who scored 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Camren Houser was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds.
South Pointe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Pointe will take on Eduprize at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
