5A District 2 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Suwannee moved up to 306 from 344 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 2. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Bay 27-21.
Godby took down Chiles 61-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. J.T. Bradwell threw for 185 yards and one touchdown and ran for three yards in the win.
The Cougars' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Khalid Thomas chipped in 109 yards. Tim Longmire helped Godby's passing attack out by catching one ball for 36 yards.
Earl Calloway was the best wideout in the league this week as Godby bested the Timberwolves. Calloway racked up four receptions for 100 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Bradwell of Ronnie Cottrell's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1127. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Wakulla's Demetrius Lindsey has rushed for 489 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tra'von Holmes. The Rickards star has 27 catches for 366 yards.
A big matchup in 5A District 2 this week will be when the War Eagles take on Suwannee. As it stands, Wakulla is in first, while Willie Spears' team is in third.
The Bulldogs and the Tornadoes played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Bulldogs eventually emerging with a 27-21 victory.
