The Pleasanton Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Floresville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Pleasanton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by La Vernia 40-7. While losing is never fun, Pleasanton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 699th, while La Vernia is ranked 245th).
Meanwhile, Floresville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 22-21 to Rockport-Fulton. Despite 68 more yards than Rockport-Fulton, Floresville couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Adrian Wilson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Pleasanton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Jourdanton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for Floresville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Pleasanton took their victory against Floresville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 35-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pleasanton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
