The Prairie View Thunderhawks managed to keep up with the Fossil Ridge SaberCats until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Prairie View was outmatched by Fossil Ridge on the road and fell 75-40. Prairie View just can't catch a break and has now endured five losses in a row.
Prairie View's loss came despite strong showings from Javon Brewton and Eric Allee. Brewton scored 13 points, while Allee scored eight points. Brewton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Prairie View struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fossil Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Nutting, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Shields, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Prairie View's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fossil Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie View will take on Mountain Range at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Range presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Prairie View in Colorado (Mountain Range is ranked 99th, while Prairie View is ranked 258th). As for Fossil Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fairview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
