Pottsville is 8-2 against Tamaqua since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Crimson Tide will be playing at home against the Blue Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Pottsville turned things around against Mahanoy Area on Tuesday. They blew past the Golden Bears 14-2.
Peyton Eckert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jes Siminitus was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Jo Barnhart was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Pottsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mahanoy Area only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, while Tamaqua put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Panther Valley. The Blue Raiders were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Panthers. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Raiders, who have now won four games in a row.
Like Pottsville, Tamaqua also got a great game from a two-way player: Naomi Knitter. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Knitter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kolbe Robb was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Megan Linkhorst, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Tamaqua's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Pottsville, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Pottsville might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Tamaqua when the teams last played back in March. Will the Crimson Tide have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
