Mattanawcook has gone 8-2 against Houlton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lynx will face off against the Shiretowners at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mattanawcook has 14 straight wins, Houlton has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mattanawcook is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Stearns a 19-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Lynx, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
James Trott and Isaac Ritchie made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Trott pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Ritchie pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Trott got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Ritchie got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Ritchie has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Mattanawcook got a massive performance out of Avery Jordan, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases Jordan has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Owen Harper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Mattanawcook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Houlton came up short against Mattanawcook last Friday and fell 7-3. That's two games in a row now that the Shiretowners have lost by exactly four runs.
Mattanawcook's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Houlton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Mattanawcook beat Houlton 7-3 in their previous meeting last Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lynx since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
