Grafton faced Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spoilers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The Spoilers' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Alexis Tompkins paced Grafton's offense, picking up eight kills. Tompkins got some help from Julia Heidt and her 27 assists. Elle Schumacher controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Grafton's loss dropped their record down to 23-13-2. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
